MetaSystem secures Benelli OS contract

Benelli is specifying the e587T-B - manufactured by MetaSystem Group company Gemel SpA - as part of a new dealer fit programme, which was rolled out in conjunction with the launch of Benelli's Tornado Tre 900. The motorcycle is equipped with a pre-wired loom for direct connection to the security system's CPU, while Benelli dealers are supplied with a dedicated installation kit.

The initiative follows a successful pilot scheme in Italy and also with Benelli's UK customers, 71% of whom opted to have the MC1 Thatcham-accredited security system installed. As a result of this positive response, Benelli is considering incorporating the e587T-B into the standard specification of the Tornado Tre model, a move which would net MetaSystem Group a further Tier 1 supplier accolade.

Benelli Sport, the manufacturer's motosports division, is currently incentivising dealers to stock a range of motorcycle accessories, which already includes a customised version of MetaSystem's IBC1500 battery conditioner. It is expected that the e587T-B alarm/immobiliser will soon be added to this comprehensive package of dealer fit extras.

Commenting on the contract, Ricky Ross, Aftersales Manager of Three Cross Motorcycles, UK distributor for Benelli, said: "We are delighted to be teaming up with MetaSystem, which is one of the world's leading motorcycle security and information solutions manufacturers, to boost the Tornado OS programme with a proven anti-theft device."

Operated by two anti- scan, anti-grab remote control transmitters, the e587T-B is resin filled to render it waterproof and resistant to attack and vibration fatigue.

Standard product features include failsafe passively arming immobilisation, an integral electronic microchip movement sensor and a diagnostic LED, which indicates where tampering has occurred and doubles as a visual deterrent.

These are supplemented by a secure override facility - activated via an individual PIN - and an integral battery back-up siren. The security system's low current draw reduces to zero after 10 days - or in the event of battery power reaching a critical level - when it automatically engages 'sleep' mode.

Mike Hemmings, MetaSystem Group's head of motorcycle security and Managing Director of MetaSystem UK, said: "We look forward to forging a strong partnership with Benelli and to providing its dealer network with a superior quality and easy to fit security solution, which also offers their customers an important insurance discount benefit."
