Thatcham is the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre. All vehicle security systems are evaluated against the British Insurnace Industry's Criteria for Vehicle Security. Systems are then given Thatcham approval as either a Category 1 alarm, Category 2>1 alarm upgrade, Category 2 immobiliser or do not qualify for a rating. This criteria tests both manufacturer standard fit systems and aftermarket products. By having a Thatcham approved system fitted, you can qualify for a premium discount on your insurance policy.
